How do they travel?

They don’t travel far. They use their feet to get around and spend a lot of time underground.

What do they eat?

Small burrowing mammals like ground squirrel, rats, gophers, and mice.

Where do they live?

Open areas like plains and prairies, farmland, and edges of woods.

What do they look like?

Body with short legs and a triangular face with a long, pointed tipped-up nose.

What color is the animal?

It has long brown or black fur with white stripes on its cheeks.

What size is the animal?

23 cm high and 60 cm long from head to tail.

What are the special features of the animal?

Come out at night for their food.

Who are they threatened by?

Coyotes and humans.

How do they protect themselves?
