Walruses

How do they travel?
Walruses inhabit the
ice-floes in the shallower water of the Arctic. They move south in
the winter as the ice expands and north in the summer as the ice
recedes.
What do they eat?
Snails, mussels, starfish,
urchins, sea cucumbers, crabs, fish, seals, and young whales.
Where do they live?
In large herds with more
than 2000 walruses in the Arctic.
What do they look like?
They have large tusks.
What color is the animal?
Grey or
red.
What size is the animal?
These can grow up to 1m in length.
What are the special
features of the animal?
Males have bigger tusks
than the females.
Who are they threatened by?
Humans.
How do they protect
themselves?
Walruses are rapid,
efficient swimmers and good divers. They escape from the enemy. |
